New York, New York!

Spending a month in the Big Apple...

In September this year. I got the opportunity to spend a month at the SUNY observing in their Optometry clinic. The month was busy but extremely rewarding. The time in there clinics inspired me to consider what the profession means to me. A month in New York also meant a lot of exploring and of course eating.

I have attached a link to the Flickr album which shows some images from my adventure. https://flic.kr/s/aHskM22xCa

I managed to find a few foodie finds including Levain Cookies ( the best cookies I have ever tasted and the same cookies I am still trying to recreate!), the orginal Cronut and Ramen from Momofuku. New York appears to have every cuisine possible and most of the time you can find amazing versions of it.

The amazing thing about New York is that there is so much to do. You can always find new places or events to attend. I tried to eat somewhere new and see something new everyday while I was there. I don't know what I was expecting with NYC but it ticked most of the boxes for a city, noisy, people everywhere and numerous things to do. I wasn't sure if I was going to enjoy the states. I needn't have worried as I really enjoyed myself and the New Yorkers made me feel welcome. It was a much friendly city in comparison to cities like London. I also discovered the real meaning of the city that never sleeps as the city that CAN'T sleep. There is so much traffic noise! Beeping seems to be everyone favourite past time.

This included all of the big "must-do" like Central Park, Top of the Rock, Brooklyn Bridge and The High Line.

I managed to get a few weekends away to DC and Boston and Coney Island. They were great destinations.

It also meant I got to attend some amazing events like Broadway shows and a baseball game.

It was an amazing experience in and out of class. I can't wait to go back and explore more.
